Profession in Finance and Accounting

ACCOUNTANT

Accountant is the very basic and entry level job in Finance and Accounting profession. A diploma in accounting or bachelor degree or under graduate degree in accounting such as Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) or BS in Accounting or Finance is adequate qualification for this post. 

Entry level job can be assistant accountant or accounts clerk. In larger organization, there may have classification of accountants such as Accountant - A/P (account payable), A/R (account Receivable), PR (payroll). In such situation, it would be better to move out after 2-3 years experience for career growth, if they can't get a promotion within.  

An experienced accountant can grow up to chief accountant or if smart enough to finance manager or finance controller though higher professional qualification is desired for such positions.

An accountant with basic qualification can pursue professional certification as he gain experience. It will help him to  climb the career ladder to high level position.
